Education

In July of 2020 I received my degree from the University of Sheffield with the award of a first class honors for the four year course of (Meng) Mechanical Engineering . Studying at the University of Sheffield was a great experience for me as I have had the opportunity to meet and make friends with people from all over the world. I took part in various competitions and challenges such as the UAV Challenge, the start-up-weekend, hackathons, capture the flag competitions and more.

Made use of the opportunity offered by the european law students' association of Sheffield (ELSA Sheffield) to partake a negotiation workshop offered by Mr Roar Thun Waegger founder and facilitator of waegger negotiation institute.

Fulfilled high school education at Kykkos A' Lyceum and graduated with an average of 18 out of 20.

Experience

Work Experience

Junior Software Developer at PROOViD 2020-Present

Joined PROOViD, a regulatory start up company based in Nicosia. My day to day tasks involve the development of new features, fixing bugs, management of external resources, testing features, deployment of changes and customers support. I programme in C#, .Net Core 3.1 MVC, SQL Server (T-SQL), JavaScript and the distributed version control system Git. Being one of the few members of the company I have been involved with the decision making company and have experienced the full development cycle of new features (from planning to production).

Ambassador 2019

Represent the University of Sheffield in the Study UK October Fair in Cyprus organized by the British Council. I was offered the opportunity to become and ambassador by the International, EU & UK Student Recruitment Manager of the university after it was found that I was running my own weekly physics and maths tutorial classes to foundational and first year engineering students. During my time in the fair I shared my personal experience as a student and encouraged others to apply to the University of Sheffield.

Sheffield Undergraduate Research Experience 2019

During a 6 week period over the summer holidays I have built an electromechanical device from scratch with the purpose of automating the calibration procedure of the digital image correlation software. The device was command and controlled from the computer by passing commands via a serial port to an Arduino microcontroller. The work done was documented in the form of a website to be made open source upon projects completion. The work done was exhibited in the SURE scheme showcase to a wider audience of experts and non-experts. Additional information about the project and a demo of the device working can be found here. The project was supervised by Dr Rachel Tomlinson.

National Service 2014-2016

After graduating from high school I completed my national service in Cyprus. During my time in the army I have undergone many sleepless nights, performed activities in harsh environments and have often overseen newer soldiers. I was positioned in the office of my unit where I handled some of the paper work along with an officer. Throughout my experience I have built emotional intelligence and learned how to cope in an unfair environment. Nether the less I have had some enjoyable and memorable moments as well.
